Give Your Pets a Monstrous New Look with Frankenweenie ? iPad ...

Frankenweenie is a Halloween-themed movie that?s currently in theaters, and if you haven?t seen it yet, this week is a great time to do so. It?s perfect for kids, but adults will love it too.

This app, from Disney, has been designed to accompany the movie. Using this fun app, you upload photos of your pets, edit them, and turn them into Frankenweenie characters. It?s endlessly entertaining!

When you open the app you?ll be instructed to use the camera to take a photo, choose a photo from your photo library, or choose a photo from Facebook. I keep quite a few photos of my cat on my iPad, so I was all ready to go after importing one.

The app changes any photo that you choose or take into black and white, and adds the Frankenweenie logo at the top. You can add in your pet?s name, and zoom in, adjust the contrast, crop, and more to get the perfect look for your image.

You?re instructed to erase the background, but this part is a bit difficult. You can?t zoom in, so getting to the little details isn?t really possible. There are undo and reset buttons though, so you can undo mistakes that you make. Luckily this is just a quick fun app that doesn?t require much accuracy.

I had the best luck with straight shot photos that didn?t have a lot of detail in the background.

After erasing the background of your photo, you can add accessories to your pet, like horns, freaky eyeballs, crazy limbs, scary mouths, and more. This part is a lot of fun, and kids are sure to enjoy decorating their pets with all of these silly, spooky items.

When you?ve added accessories, you can select a backdrop. There are several creepy options, from old attics to graveyards. After your photo is complete, you add a name and then you?re able to share it on social networks like Facebook and Twitter so all of your friends and family can see your creepy photos.

What I liked: This app is a lot of fun! It?s perfect for Halloween night. Even though its meant to be used with pets, you can sneak a picture of a person in as well.

What I didn?t like: It would have been easier to tap to select items. Having to use arrow keys to select different accessories that were on the screen made the process slower. I?d also like to see a confirmation button on the reset option, which I accidentally tapped, erasing work. Be careful where you tap! This app works best with photos that are taken straight on ? you will have some trouble with angled photos.

To buy or not to buy: This is a free app and well worth taking the time to download.
